The Storrs Summer Reading Program is back! Children from birth through entering grade 6 register online at www.longmeadowlibrary.org and stop by the library to pick up a paper reading log.
Reading Logs:
When children check-in reading logs for the first time in the Discovery Room, they will receive a Fast Code (in lieu of writing out contact information).
–Prereaders will receive a paper pal to put on the farm wall in the Picture Book Area.
–Readers can write their name on a list located on their farm animal.
How to Participate:
Children from birth through entering grade 6 are going to log the time they spend reading or someone reads to them. Audiobooks and video recorded books definitely count!
For every 1 hour read, Readers receive 1 DISCOVERY DOLLAR, and for every 10 books a caregiver reads to them, Prereaders receive 1 DISCOVERY DOLLAR, which can be used to enter our weekly and grand prize raffles, or at the Storrs Store to purchase prizes.
For every 5 hours read (every time a yellow line is completed on the reading log):
–Readers stamp once next to their name on their favorite farm animal.
For every 10 hours read (every time a yellow star is completed on the reading log):
–Prereaders can move their paper pal game piece along the farm wall.
For every program attended children can ask for a DISCOVERY TICKET, which can be used to enter our weekly and grand prize raffles (Discovery Tickets cannot be used at the Storrs Store). In the spirit of fair play, children can win 1 raffle prize per week.
The 2026 Statewide Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Storrs Library, The Massachusetts Regional Library System, the Boston Bruins, & the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
